Put a stainless hearth under the door to catch ash droppings. Then use wood. Cheapest ! You can get it from construction sites for free sometimes.Driftwood works for me, a free , endless supply here.

Yes condensation will flow down that space like a river. Closed cell foam in full contact with the hull is the only way you will eliminate condensation there.

The ones shown from the auto parts store corrode out, internally , and there is no way to repair them Tried them, for a while. Switched to Sea Dog plugs .Much better. They can be repaired
