Here's a great article with photos of an October storm. Only nutters would do it then and these Open 60's are definitely nutters. 60 foot of boat and half were forced out of the race on the first day...

re: disappearing boat manufacturers

Well, yes, you are right.
Without getting into a geo-political argument Henry Ford said something like manufacturing at a price low enough for a person working hard can buy.
That's manufacturing......

Re: Quitting Your Job, Sailing Away... Is it always rosey?

I have only read the first post. This may not be 'answering' the post.

The difference between working and cruising is the vicissitudes - the ups and downs in life.

At work (unless you own the...

Re: VHF & AIS OPTIONS: Garmin vhf 200 w Garmin AIS 600 trxcvr vs Standard Horiz GX220

Re: How crazy am I? Sail repair with tape.

Its all visa on arrival.
Its different in every island.
Every major port you are likely to arrive in is a Port of Entry anyway.
Some islands can be a bit grumpy because there is...

Re: Mystery sail found in my boats spare parts

There are plenty of idiots around who buy crazy stuff because they get some bee in the bonet about how salty it would be (see thread on not believing GPS and/or chartplotters).

As you say, stick...

Re: sailing with a partially furled headsail
