Re: Mounting containers to lifelines

Thanks for that but we've already gotten Wilderness Systems Tarpon sit on top kayaks. As many likely know, sometimes the biggest hurdle to cruising is getting your spouse on board. I was having that...

Re: Voyaging on $500 per month

I really do wish all houses appreciate in value, but after 2008.......... it just ain't so.
I recall telling a friend that I was going to Paris to visit and that I'd found a campground within site...

Re: Voyaging on $500 per month

A lot of what I hear here is folks making excuses for not going cruising. $500/month or whatever, no doubt it's cheaper to live on a boat in a nice marina than it would be to stay in an overpriced...

Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit

Since today is 4/16, just wondering if anyone used the RRETC to write off their installation of solar/wind on their primary residence (if you are liveaboard)?

Snappy or otherwise Comebacks

So the stars are finally aligning and I'm very near to retiring. The boat work is progressing well and I find myself often talking at work about our plans. "Head to the Caribbean and points beyond"...

Re: The run aground poll

I've run aground and scraped the barnacles off the nose of the keel where I'd run aground and scraped the bottom paint off.
I bought a boat and the former owner watched me sail away from his dock,...

Re: Voyaging on $500 per month

I've just found this thread and intend to go back and read it all but by skipping to the end I see what I've realized a while back. Some things are smaller and cheaper than they used to be... music...

The mineral content of groundwater varies so greatly that it is not wise to depend on it for mineral uptake. Many people drink nearly pure water, for instance living in mountainous regions with low...

Re: Best leaking engine quote ever...

I don't know if it has rope seals but I can vouch for my '77 Westerbeke 40 (a Perkins) having leaking shaft seals. They'd been replaced twice before I got it and it has to be done again.
Not to...

I'm only looking at Passageweather but it seems that Camper is turning too soom to avoid any dead air ahead. Maybe the shorter distance will justify it or maybe they see something I can't. For...
