The problem you will come up against is the upper seal is also the upper bearing. with new packing you will get 10 years or more from the gland as the rudder shaft moves little.

I like the idea but am skeptical of the durability. The stays cop a lot of rubbing from the head sail as can be seen by the wear on the sails clew and leech. Also the genoa lines rub.

There must be a reason that a large majority of cook top/stoves are LPG and cabin heating is Diesel. Trying to buck the trend is pointless follow the sheep, keep your cabin warm and dry with Diesel...
