Re: Still holding its own - HF Radio

I have a friend who has become interested in helping me install HF on my boat. His goal is to use the existing rigging without modifying it except to add feed points. We ran a first experiment last...

Re: Zippered Pocket on Foot of Main Sail??

Yes, there are grommets with vertical slots all the way up from each of the pockets. That makes great sense. I think I will try to resurrect that system. I am an embarrassment to the sailing...

Re: Zippered Pocket on Foot of Main Sail??

You are correct about the reefing. The hooks for each reef attached to the goose neck. There are out hauls for each reef that are directed through the end of the boom. There are reef tie grommets...

Zippered Pocket on Foot of Main Sail??

See the attached picture. There are two small zippered pockets on the foot of the mail sail. What are these used for? We were making WAGs including hiding keys, small sail hardware, sunscreen...

Health Insurance While Cruising

I did a quick search and did not find much information. Feel free to point me somewhere if this has been discussed.

How does health insurance work when you are cruising? Let's say you are in a...

Re: Three Years From Cruising

Well, I have logged about 100 miles now. Most days have been very light wind, 0 to 5 knots. Moving at 1-4 knots is slow going, but any day on the water is a good day. Last weekend, the wind was...

Re: Cleaning/Sanitizing fresh water holding tanks

Re: Will epoxy stick to PVC pipe?

From the kiteboard industry, PVC is sometimes used around the perimeter of a kiteboard. Then the glass/epoxy is vacuum bagged to the PVC. The bond is made by first roughing the PVC with something...

Re: 1st big project, bronze thru-hull

Are you talking about G10 (Garolite)? I used that for my thru-hulls; also, got it from McMaster-Carr. Used West Systems 404 mixed into epoxy for the adhesive to the hull. I think that is what...

Re: Why All the Absurd Circumnavigation Threads?

This vid speaks well to the idea of pursuing your dreams...

Re: Why All the Absurd Circumnavigation Threads?

At the next level, it is about finding empty waves to surf. This puts me in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. First explore the...
