Re: Sabre 34 repower?

Not sure what mods are needed on a 34 but on a 28 & 30 that has a MD7A in it all one needs to do is install a 2X4 on the flat between the engine bed & motor mounts on a Beta.
Not sure where you're...

Re: Thank You, Sailnet

The mag just landed in the mail box today.
I'll have to move it into what I call The Library so I can check it out.
Congrats!

Re: West Marine

If you're in a bind & can't wait for Defender/Jamestown/or Hamilton to UPS it to you then West Marine with their local locations can be convenient. Last weekend I desperately needed Pettit 120...

Re: No overnight anchoring in Lewis Bay, West Yarmouth

Take a look at what's going on in Florida & you have the answer, frustrating as it is. I just found out last year in NH you cannot anchor overnight on any inland waters without landowner permission....

Re: MD7A Recommended Work while she is out?

There's a product called I believe Red Lyme that you should consider running thru the water passages of the block to clean her out.
Only other thing I can tell you is begin saving money for a new...

Re: Cruising ICW on low budget

This is extremely off topic but it played into my organic post cause it brought back a memory I had forgotten about..

When we had the farm we had a dozen customers from the city that would come up...

Re: Florida is at it again

I'm not saying that Paul. Whenever other parties hop on board an issue thinking if we get rid of X then the spot light won't be on me,
I think it's dangerous. I don't blame the landowners for...

Re: Florida is at it again

This is a real slippery slope because freedom is freedom. We can't pick & chose which freedoms we want to have while giving up the freedom of others.

Giving local authorities the right to seize...

Re: Rights during USCG Inspection.

Prior to the Patriot Act you had no rights on navigable waters.
Like Dale has mentioned now with Patriot Act you really have no rights. Remember if you're boat is documented, it's documented through...

Re: In cabin stereo

If you have an inverter & power isn't an issue, Bose Wave Radio.
Inside the cabin of a boat, absolutely fantastic.

Re: Privacy considerations for ignorant powerboaters

Like Rich said, it is common courtesy & common sense to not create a wake that will put others in harms way. Being boaters, when you're navigating outside a no wake zone, you should expect the...

Re: Sabre 28/30 for a newer sailor?

Just be sure whether it's a 28 or a 30 it isn't suffering from Sabre rot.
Chain plate leaks over the years takes it's toll on the salon bulkheads & mast compression post step.
There was a 30 for...

re: Privacy considerations for ignorant powerboaters

Nothing personal Take Five but coming from the powerboat crowd, I don't think I've seen a powerboat traveling at 26 knots toss up a 48" wake. Unless it's a big ass boat like Mike experienced.
You...

Re: Best boat for 25 grand for coastal cruising and going from east coast to Caribbea

Jim has raised a real good point when one looks at the costs to upgrade boats in the 35 foot range. I can purchase new sails for my 28' in the $2.5-3K range. The larger the boat the more it's going...

Re: Minimum electronics for coastal cruising

[QUOTE=cheoah;2807698]Interesting to see people prioritize a depth sounder. That's really low on my list, I'm only concerned about VHF and chartplotter/gps. [QUOTE]

I find this thread interesting...

Re: Minimum electronics for coastal cruising

Truth is all you really need is a compass, depth sounder, paper charts & binoculars. Makes me wonder how many people actually have paper charts on their boats anymore??

Re: slip vs. mooring

Coming from the powerboat scene, always had a slip. There's no arguing it's convenient & can be very entertaining at times. Now that I sail, for me personally being on a slip would annihilate that...

Re: Eco friendly anchoring

I thought I had seen a video of her a couple years ago discussing converting her boat to EP.
