Sounds like waterproof fabric is the best choice. I don't sleep on the boat that often so the stickiness shouldn't be too big of an issue. I would put sheets on the cushions or be in a sleeping bag....

Thanks for the suggestions! I got a small pipe wrench but still could not wiggle the nut loose. I guess there is no alternative to taking apart the head part and trying to get a gasket from Yanmar.
