Re: Onboard: Electric stove or other?

I am very happy with my unpressurized Origo Alcohol two burner. No moving parts, no Kaboom factor, no odor, cheap fuel, what could go wrong?

Re: Single handed anchoring questions

Re: Wife won't retire with me....

I have two boats. Actually three. One I keep here in Ohio on a trailer and a Catalina 27 and a Hunter 34 in Oak Harbor, Washington. My wife does NOT sail. I retired a few years back and she...

Re: Florida is at it again

Here's a thought; why don't all the people who were opposed to the aforementioned law that didn't pass, start a campaign to unseat State Senator Smith who introduced the law? Now you know that ain't...

Re: Why don't boats have headlights?

Hey! You guys have just given me a brilliant idea. I think I'll mount a couple of aircraft landing lights on my spreaders. I bet I can see and be seen more than a mile away!

Re: How big a holding tank vs. camping

Let me jump in here with my 2 cents worth. As far as using a bucket; I don't have a problem with that. I do it all the time on my little Windrose. But I avoid carrying it down the dock and past my...

Re: What do you pay for Slip Fees??

That's what I like about Oak Harbor. Reasonable rates. Nice little town. Close to Seattle. Sail year round. A days hop to the islands. And if I feel really frisky easy trip up to Desolation...

re: What do you pay for Slip Fees??

Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to slip fees. Inland fees on the Great Lakes, Kentucky Lake seem ridiculously high when compared to places like the pnw. I pay 206 bucks a month for my...

Re: Sea Delivery from SFO to PNW how feasible?

Made the trip down the coast from Bremerton to San Diego on the CVN Stennis. I remember passing the Columbia River outlet. Can't say how far offshore we were but in that area the sea really rocked...

Re: Setting a trysail at anchor

Okay, I admit. I'm not as ingenius nor industrious but I did have a little extra spending money thanks to a generous income tax refund, so I purchased a riding sail from Banner Marine. Works great...

Re: Ocean baby rescue underway off Mexico

If it didn't have communication capabilities, how'd they radio the Navy that they had a sick child and needed help? Fox showed several (four) rescue divers jumping from the rear of a C130 and said...

Re: How many sailors actually know how to sail?

Actually, I am convinced that proper setting of sails is mostly magic. It is only done right after you have collected the appropriate talismans and learned the correct incantations! Also the...
