Re: FlexoFold Prop - Noise

From flexofold:
"From what you inform about the propeller, I think there is no reason to believe that the vibrations are coursed by the propeller.
Resonances and vibrations tend to travel through...

I think you might be on the right track. I swam under again today and took a bunch of photos this time. The olive zinc is a little degraded, and while it's a little uneven I doubt it's enough to...

Re: FlexoFold Prop - Noise

No. It could very well be. I have emailed flexofold about prop noise/cavitation. We'll see what they say.

I swam under yesterday and the prop looks fine. Not as clean as I would like to see, but not fouled and it opened and closed just fine. I tried to wiggle and shake it but it was solid. Same with the...

Re: FlexoFold Prop - Noise

Thanks. I'm going to jump in and take a look when I get to a nice place to anchor (the water in my marina is nasty!) Cutlass bearing was also one of the suggested causes, but I'm really hoping it's...

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? My Flexofold is making a sound similar to what you describe, but in both forward and reverse. It also smooths out to silence at certain rpm...

Re: Rum enjoyment

I will have to keep an eye out for some LLB. In the meantime, I think make my own and give that combo a try.

Re: Mutiny at Dawn - Transpac Race 2013

I just found this thread and haven't read all 100 pages, but wow. What a story. We were wondering what the deal was with those guys.

Re: Beneteau First 42 - German Frers design

Does anyone have the polars for this boat? I am playing around with some routing software, but don't have the polar data.

Re: Looking for Mooring in San Diego

Are you looking for a permanent mooring? Good luck getting one on short notice. Maybe someone here will have one and be out of town or something.

Re: Physical Fitness

Military fitness tests are pretty easy these days if you are at least in half-decent shape.

As far as staying in shape while sailing, it's pretty easy to workout anywhere as I prefer bodyweight...

Re: Living aboard - and sex

That's something that never crosses my mind at the time, but occasionally I wonder how audible it is. When I'm inside the boat I can clearly hear people talking and walking by on the dock, so I feel...

Re: Thoughts on the Beneteau First 305?

I have 1984 First 42, which is much bigger, but it's great. Solid boat, solid hardware, and damned quick. The First series are racer/cruisers, typically faster and and carry more sail and stronger...

Re: Beneteau 37 teak seats

I was just checking out that Plasteak website. Looks pretty nice, and lower maintenance is always appealing. I kind of like the one they have with glow-in-the-dark "caulking" for replacing my teak...
