I see, well is a Airmar H2183 sensor different? It's a gyro rate sensor.. Is this not different from a fluxgate?

Haha Oh jeez! What about somewhere in the overhead, not around any winches or wires? Or maybe get some wire shielding to prevent other wires affecting the compass?

You could look into a couple gas struts to help take some pounds off the motor when you pull it up. I have that exact motor, I have a starter too on mine, and it was a brute to pull up when I used it...
