I have a canvas bucket with a stiff metal hoop in the top to keep it open. I drop the rode in as I haul it, then I unshackle the anchor and stow below after it has dried somewhat in the bucket....

Anti seize is a great idea but make sure it is zinc based and not copper or there could be other issues. I buy self etching primer in a spray can but some trim black can be self etching as well both...

Blue foam cheap camping cushions, I doubled mine to make them 1 inch thick and covered them in vinyl. They are comfortable and they float.

What would make you feel better? Personaly paint doesnt do it for me. I say sail. Who cares what the deck looks like as long as it holds you up.
