Re: Those new fangled Mantus Anchors..Bought One...Why
MikeOReilly: I use my FX-37, on the mud setting, as my storm anchor and it has never failed. But that is when I anchor in our local very soft mud in the creeks off of the Neuse River. I have used a...

Re: Cruising? or just sailing with pit stops?
I will offer this on the auto pilot issue. I have only used a line from the tiller to a clam cleat. Less than 10$. Sailing in open water I balance the sails and she tracks well enough to allow me to...

My first thought is failing coil. Do you have EI? Does the engine die slowly, sputtering or instantly as if you turned off the key? You may want to also post on the Moyer site Moyer Marine Atomic 4...

Re: $6,600 to rebuild Atomic 4? replace/rebuild
Another thing to consider in this decision is. How are you going to use the boat? A tired functioning A-4 is just fine if only needed to get you out of the slip and into open water. Whole different...

Not sure what it should be called but the trip you describe is exactly like the trips I take. Long trips are 3 to 5 months, basic no frills boat, anchor out 99% of the time, coastal cruising Ft Myers...

Re: Oh what to do? boat on rocks/reef/sand/mud
Well having been aground a "few" times but only in soft bottoms. When I bump close to low I just sit and let the tide turn. Bump in an area with little tide change I punch it and slam the tiller over...

I have enjoyed the Bay side of the Keys. As you note there are more anchoring options. With a little imagination/planning you can find a place to hide from most winds. Islamorada is one of my...

I have a documented boat. No state registration #. I pay taxes on the boat in NC and the hailing port is in Tn. So will I be in violation if I cross into Fla waters? Dan S/V Marian Claire
