Re: Sources for used trailer sailers

You might try the yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/merit22/, they post ads there also. Hope this helps.

Thanks Catman, I found one in Cincinatti on here, a little farther than I wanted...

Sources for used trailer sailers

I have posted an ad on Sailing Texas for a used Merit 22 and thought I would try posting in Craigslist in the boating section but other than that I am clueless as how to find one of these little...

Re: Florida is at it again

And yet Fredric Karlton, the most notorious waterfront homeowner in regards to this issue, is a Florida native - born and raised, and a graduate of UF... Go figure... :-)

Re: Scared to anchor....

Pay close attention to your chart if you choose this route as the markers will reverse once you pass the Dupont Bridge. No big deal unless you are not aware of it.
Jan. can be a little tricky in...

Re: Mast Life and When to Replace It ?

HighFly,
If your are going to use stainless as a step plate I suggest that you need a teflon isolater between the steel and the aluminum, otherwise the aluminum will act as an anode which is...

Re: The #1 sailing city in america

Best known by who? I would bet that Joe Q Public says San Francisco and probably has no idea where Annapolis is. The city best known by sailors for their sailing is probably the ones that they are...

Re: Boat comparisons

If you are looking for a matrix to correspond to your criteria, by looking on Yachtworld and entering your length and price criteria you will find that there are less than a handfull that are newer...

Re: Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

Bob, respectfully I would submit that I have never seen a man eaten by a crocidile but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. I will admit that I am a luddite an therefore I am sure that I have...

Re: Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

I was definitely going to use the 33 meter but my concern is that it seems that the boat would need to be completly dry before you could get any accurate measurements of the Hull. No dew or any other...

Re: Offshore bluewater cruising - what sailboat would be best?

There is a Nebe Cape 28 for sail on Sailing Texas for 17k and a 28 footer in Texas would be the size of a 45 footer anywhere else!

Re: Boat comparisons

If I were in the market for that much boat in that price range I would look hard at a Morgan 382. The Out Island series probably have more room but the 382,383 and 384's are much better sailing boats...

Re: Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

This is what I was looking for, thank you. I knew that the Tartan had been hard aground at least once and the care it was given by it's original owner was questionalble. Had the Pearson been on the...

Re: Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

Why are you two on this idiotic tangent? You both have missed the point of the post. Do you think anybody but the two of you gives a $ hit?

Re: Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

Boat Poker, you make some interesting points especially the 48 hours on the hard before a survey is initiated. This was part of my concern as well, in that I believe there is always saturation before...

Re: What Band Will Play At Your Sail Party?

The Double-Wide Blues Band joined by Eric Clapton and BB king!
In case you haven't heard of the DW blues band it's probably because we're basically just a bunch of drunks from Kentucy and a few...

Would you buy an early 80's cored hull boat?

I know that the cored hull issue has been kicked around for some time now but I am wondering if those who support the cored hull concept would consider buying a 30-35 year old cored hull boat. Since...

Re: pearson

This keel question is easy to solve, take the boat out into 4' of water.... if she floats she's the shoal keel version and if she's run aground she's not. Oh and you might want to do it on a sandy...

Re: Florida Anchoring and Mooring pilot program.

My concern is over zealous enforcement, which occured regularly in South Florida and has taken a lot of money and effort to correct... for the time being anyway. As O.J. once said " they got sum...

Re: Florida Anchoring and Mooring pilot program.

Having lived in Florida for the best part of 60 years I have seen a good part of the way the waterfront has developed and I would say that both sides of this arguement have merit. The biggest concern...

Re: This sailing others peoples boats thing is looking like work

Maybe you just need your own boat, there's nothing more relaxing for a 60+ year old person than climbing into a lazarette that's about half your size and working on a steering quadrant. You will be...
