I was in Fiji during the December 2006 coup.
All very civilized, even postponed a day to allow fo a cricket match.

I was in Suva a few months ago for several weeks. No problems at all except that the local officials seemed to have discovered a new fumigation scam that was costing some cruisers several hundred dollars.

We quite liked Fiji and would not mind spending more time there and seeing more islands - it is quite large with a lot of variety. In some cases you need special permits though
