I have a 1987 tanzer 25 hull #007. It is a very unique boat with a fractional rig,shoal keel 9'6" beam aft cabin large cockpit, great boat. Anyone out there with one?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum (I live in Blainville, 25 km North of Montreal, Quebec).
I'm curious about your Tanzer 25 sailboat. Are you sure it is the number 007?
If this is the case, I think you are the owner of one of the rare original Tanzer 25 boats. From what I know, only 16 were built before Tanzer has been in bankrupcy (sorry, not sure of the orthograph). I ask about the number 007 because we were told that the original 16 boats were built before 1987. After that, some other Tanzer 25 were built (#17 ond over), but the specs were slightly changed and the quality of their construction has declined compared to original ones.
I bought the number 10 and according to the serial number, it was made in 1986.

I've got #28, fin keel outboard. I've seen numbers as high as #62 made in 1992. Most were produced in 1987. Great boats, easy to sail, fast, and well built.

I have one in Barnaget NJ. Great Sailing boat very fast. Light sail single handed. Sails great in heavy weather with single reef main 20+ knots. 120 JIB. Not fast in sailing off the wind. Needs 130 jib. New roller ferrel.

Beauty of a boat.. I'd consider selling mom to get my hands on one (jk).. Lots of 26's and 22's for sale up here.. neither are as nice as the 25..

I am a newly minted T25 owner. Just bought a 1988 Tanzer 25 sight unseen. I have yet to take delivery from seller. Will update hull # and info when I know it. It looks like a nice solid boat but the real test will be when we sail it on the Columbia River in Portland, OR.

junaid - go to tanzer yahoo news group - there you will find 98% of tanzer owners posting info - though most own the older tanzers.

I finally got the boat, hull #57 built in 88. Interestingly even though its a Tanzer, the builder is listed as Challenger Yachts of Canada.
