Calling all T-31/3100 owners

CALLING ALL T-31/3100 OWNERS!!

The Tartan 31/3100 is a joy to sail, and with easy access to all systems, owner-maintainable. But like all mechanical things, they age and require maintenance.

No point in individually re-discovering problems or solutions. Since preventative maintenance is always cheaper, and preferable to, corrective maintenance, I think that it would be a good idea to collect owner experiences at one central point and maintain them in a Word document readily sharable by email. I would like to do that.

If you have:
- discovered some “trick” that makes routine maintenance easier
- encountered a mechanical problem, or
- created an improvement, with any system or structure of your boat
please share the details. Be sure to include the following information:
Hull Identification # (located on stbd. Transom)
Year boat was launched & number of years you’ve owned it.
If a problem, how you discovered it. If an improvement, why you wanted it.
Brief description of what you did or had done.
If it required unique materials, where you found them.
What you might do differently if you had to do it again.

When enough responses have been received I’ll collect and edit them in a newsletter that will be emailed to any T-31 owner that wants one.

I’ll post this notice on Yahoo, TONE, and Sailnet. If you belong to any other list or know of T-31 owners that don’t do lists, please forward it on.

I am considering the purchase of a Tartan 31. It certainly looks like a very comfortable boat to live aboard, can any of the owners in the forum give me some idea of what to expect for performance? Any racers who sail it with spinnaker/gennaker?
