3700 rudder exchange assistance
We have a very early Tartan 3700, built in 2000. It has the original design rudder. Because of severe moisture issues we are having the rudder removed to treat for moisture. We have often wondered if the revised design for later model 3700s would be a better rudder for performance purposes and/or to reduce the vibrations caused by the offset prop washing inefficiently over the centered rudder. Is there someone who had the original design and updated to the "improved" design? Was there a significant difference in performance under power or sailing? We are debating whether to treat the existing or having the factory rebuild the rudder to the new specs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
