Chainplate Inspection w/Rigging Up
Hi Folks,
Wonder if any of you have experience removing/inspecting/replacing the chainplate for your aft stay while the rigging is still up. I intend to replace that chainplate on my T37 and would prefer not to take the mast down to do it. How can this be done safely? Should I use a halyard run aft to keep tension on the mast while removing the aft stay? Any tips or experiences woudl be much appreciated. Jeff Pace T37, #5 |
Yep...just use the halyard. Or the halyard AND the topping lift if you're stressed about it! (g)

It won't be a problem, unless some serious wind comes along. But you should know, that when only one stay or shroud is removed, it tends to shrink. (jk, but it sure seems that way).
