repower tartan 37

i need to repower my 1980 T37 which has the original westerbeke 50 diesel engine.
would like advise on compatible engines and pitfalls to advoid.
the boat and i are in malaysia near singapore so transportation is an issue.

Repower tartan 37

Jack - The rule of thumb is 1 hp for each foot, so you want to have around 37 hp. I have an 84 tartan that is powered by a Westerbeke 33. However, I have seen them powered by Yanmars and even a VW air cooled engine. You can go to the Tartan 37 website and get more information.
