Derelict T34C

Hello all,

Long story short is that I have found a derelict T34C in So Florida but the HIN was ground off of the stern. It has an Atomic 4 which tell me it was manufactured between 1968 and 1973???? It doesn't have a Tartan Plaque on the Companion Way. Tartan tells me it is a T34C and to look in the Lazerette for a HIN and a friend of mine that lives in the area will look on Thursday. I am not sure if Tartan has always put the HIN in the lazerette but it was not mandated until the mid 80s.

The name on the stern is "Sherpa" and the hailing port is Port Saint Lucie, FL. If anyone knows who the owner is or anything else about this boat please reply. I did a search on the USCG site for the name and it only listed 1 sailboat. It is a 37 foot Tartan in California.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Can anyone that owns a 1970 to 1975 T34C tell me if there is a hidden HIN on your boat? If you have located yours could you please take a picture and post it here along with a location? 3 people have looked in the lazarette and have not found a number yet.

IIRC automobile titles were required around 1972 and and water craft followed a year or two later. It is likely that there is no HIN for the T34 you are interested in and a registration would be sufficient to transfer ownership (along with a bill of sale). You won't have the previous registration or a previous owner to sign a bill of sale either though.
I'd suggest you contact a marine salvage outfit as they should be familiar with the steps you need to take to gain 'ownership'.
