I have always wondered why there was not a Cape Dory sub-forum (I sorta figured the CDSOA asked you not to or something . . .)

Sorry Brian.

A few of the Chatterlings escaped. I'll try harder to keep them contained.

I wish I would have seen this a week ago - another posting got my attention that lead me to this posting.

The reason that more vendors aren't involved is because there's a vendor-hostile attitude here. They are always going to be torn between trying to allow knowledgeable members to provide information and trying to extort advertising dollars. Their model is very screwed up and I predict the entire thing is going to crash as the banner ad type of ads they push here dry up because they don't work. Instead of pushing commercial members like me away, they should be entering into discussions to figure out how to move into a successful future.

All you need to do is look at my own signature. I've gotten 3 demands to change it. I changed it complying with the written rules twice only to have it changed by force by another moderator. Now it's just a stupid signature that means nothing. I don't dare to touch it.

Does anyone really think that vendors will have an open ability to discuss anything about their product here? Why do you think there are almost no vendors?

Re: Sailnet Changes

Jeffrey,
I'm not a mod or an owner, so take my question with a grain of salt, but...
Would you consider having two logins, one for your "professional" side, and one for your "personal" side? The pro login would have your full footer, and you'd mostly use it in the Vendor section. The personal one would be for use on the rest of the site.

Just a thought.

Re: Sailnet Changes

You know what when I first signed up I was told my screen name sounded like something commercial....

I got a bit pissed about it too, and it was left alone. I have nothing for sale here or anywhere else, and I am not trying to do anything commercial, but sheesh the first note I got on here was about to be the last, because I would have left if forced to change my screen name. Just because I am hard headed that way LOL.

The problem is that it's not possible to separate my business life from my cruising life. I'm in a thread right now about paper charts. So when the discussion moves from navigation technology to electronics to products that I'm involved with do I say, "wait a sec - let me log in as my other persona"?

I just think it's remarkable that members here would like industry involvement but don't realize the slaps and hits-for-money that result when it actually happens.

Re: Sailnet Changes

Is there a way to hide the Crew Wanted/Available posts? I read SN by way of the New Posts, no offtopic, no politics feature, is there a way to add no crew to that as well.

i certainly don't begrudge the postings, but there seems to be alot of them lately
