Port Aransas, TX

Once a yr They have this awesome festival!!!! Just take a little looksy.
Imho, this is just about as great as you can get! These birds stand 5.5' tall and
have a wingspan of 7'. They migrate from the great coast of Texas to waaaaay up there in Canada.
So Majestic! The largest birds in the United States, and we have them here for a
little while before they make their great trip North.

Re: Port Aransas, TX

Whooping cranes are not what I remember Port A for. My running buddy and I would ride Southwest Airlines from Dallas to Corpus Christi (round trip in the early 80's was about $35 on weekends) and rent a Lincoln Towncar (another $30 for the weekend) at hit Port A. Cruising up and down the beach in a rented Lincoln and generally misbehavin...ooh la la...them was the good ole days.

Re: Port Aransas, TX

Port A, and the Corpus Christi Bay area offers great day sail/overnight opportunities. Island Moorings and the municipal marina in Port A are good overnight spots. Shamrock island is a great anchorage. Then there is the Corpus Christi marina, and Ingelside.

With winds averaging 10-20 from the SE to S, conditions are usually great unless there is a front rolling through. Get out there and explore.
