Maine-Jewel Island

I am planning to head over to Jewel Island on Sunday. Given that it is Labor Day weekend-what are my chances of getting a spot in cocktail cove if we leave early Sunday AM?

Slim from what I hear. Most of the Mooring's and campsites are taken either Sat morning or Friday night.
Good Luck! Wish I had the similar plans.

Chances are slim to none on labor day weekend. Beyond that Cocktail Cove is the number one spot in Casco Bay to run into incompetent boaters who have no clue how to anchor a vessel. We stay away from there on weekends between Memorial Day and until after Labor Day. Mid week can be okay during the summer as it is usually the more competent cruising crowed stopping on the way through. On teh weekends it is the 1:1 scope Sea Ray crowd who show up and do the Gilligan toss anchoring moves...

If you want to get dragged or swung into this is the place to make it happen. There are plenty of places to go in Casco Bay that Jewell can be avoided while the yahoos are out in full force..

Re: Maine-Jewel Island

Thanks for the responses. I definitely don't want to get snagged or hit. Any suggestions for another anchorage?
