Hey everyone,

I've been following this thread for a while, and it gave me the perfect excuse to plan a trip to the Vineyard. You can count me in, I've reserved a mooring with the Edgartown Harbormaster.

However you also raised the more important point that has not been resolved:

Where & When will we meet?

I would like to put a date out there: Saturday, July 27th 2013.

It was July 27th 2011 when we lost our GulfStar.
It was July 27th 2012 when we closed our purchase of the Triumph.

So, that date has some significance, and it is still at the height of the summer.

I would also still propose dropping our hooks at Edgartown / Chappaquiddick, because that has a sandy bottom which my hook has never dragged in, and it provides a sheltered harbor (for the prevailing SW winds) large enough for plenty of vessels.

So, who wants to do this?
Bump.

Is this still planned?

Regards,
Brad

Hi Brad,

YES, my wife and I have taken 2 weeks off from work, starting July 22.

First we are sailing from Boston to Newport, where we will spend a couple of days, then we will head to Marthas Vineyard at Edgartown, and drop anchor off of Chappaquiddick, arriving no later than the 26th.

The following Monday we plan to head to Nantucket, stay there a couple days, then we head North to Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

So... are you thinking of meeting up in MV? Hope so, we want a good sized PARTY! :-)

Fair winds,
Doug

I'm still in as well. Doug, looks like I'll be heading from Newport to the Vineyard the same day as you.

We'll be visiting Narragansett Bay in July and then on to MV area in August. Looks like we'll miss this one.

Long Isl Sound in early Sept?

Yes!!

The Sound is easy to get to, and I'm sailing from Montauk to Port Washington sometime in Sept. So that lines up easy.

Brad

I have a work trip the week before, which puts a bit of a squeeze on making it to MV for July 27th. (But I'm planning to take the next week off.)

I'm still a "maybe" for the event.

Regards,
Brad

We're in Narragansett Bay most of this season shaking things down.( the hit list goes on forever it seems) Please send a PM when you're in the area. Love to see you folks. We'll sail to where you are.

Leaving western LIS July 23, planning to make MV for the 27th
Are we ok anchoring or should I be making a reservation for a mooring if still available? Any rules/regs we should be aware of
regarding anchoring?
