Trips to Catalina Island

Are there any organized trips to Catalina Island planned for those in Southern California?

We love to sail to Two Harbors and drop anchor in the free area. It seems so much better than tying up to a mooring and much less foo foo.

Any groups headed that way, or around the other side?

Where are you based? Marina Del Rey? Redondo?

We're in the San Pedro area. We are a husband/wife and occasional kids. Where are you guys?

I'm trying to find transportation from San Pedro (or whereabouts) to Two Harbors the evening of Fri, 5/6 (about 9 pm), after the ferries shut down. We're a family of 6, and would pay reasonably for the service. Would you, or anybody you know, have an interest in helping us cross over for some extra $$?

We are based in Channel Islands. To go to Two Harbors is a 70 mile trip so I have been waiting for some one to convoy with. From San Pedro ir is about 24 miles. I have done it in a Newport 28 several years ago. It is a fairly easy trip. If you go on the weekends, there is a steady stream of boats heading there. If you clear the breakwater at 9:00 am, you will arrive off Bird rock by about 12:30 or 1:00. The harbor master will let you know where you can anchor. Be aware the there is a shallow reef off of the pier. It is marked but people have tried to cross it and run aground.

From San Pedro to Isthmus is a nice weekend trip.

It's getting close to that time again. The shop is almost finished rebuilding our diesel and we'll have it reinstalled next week. Almost time to head back to Catalina. Anyone else have a trip planned?
