I've got an entire snow plow crew sitting on standby. So far here (north east of Toronto) I think they got it wrong - again! Have a feeling the worst of it will pass us by.

That is a horse head in the box. Not an alien!

Where I am in Massachusetts they are predicting 18-20 inches. Has started already and it looks wet: 18-20 inches of wet snow is more than18-20 inches of powder, and much harder for my snowblower to throw. The government is shut done except for essential workers and emergency workers.

Re: March 14, 2017-NE Snowstorm accumulations?

Where I am in SE Pennsylvania we ended up on the snow/mixed precip line. Last night as soon as I saw a Tweet from one of the local meteorologists saying she thought the storm was tracking farther west than forecast, I figured we wouldn't get the 18-24 inches they forecast for my area. As of now it's about four inches of snow and ice mixed. Wind is gusting.

Two systems converged, one out of the northwest, one headed up the coast. From where I sit they did as well as they could with the forecast. Now I'm done with this stupid snow and ready to get our boat ready to sail.

Re: March 14, 2017-NE Snowstorm accumulations?

I have been following the storm from my winter home in Ft Myers. The most current forecast that I have seen is that the coast will get less snow than predicted earlier, but that the high winds coupled with the snow, freezing rain and rain will result in major power outages. Winds are predicted in Chatham in excess of 70 MPH with higher gusts.

I am concerned about my boat which is on the hard in Providence.

Re: March 14, 2017-NE Snowstorm accumulations?

Interesting time of year. Feels and looks like winter is over yet it is common to get the biggest, wettest snow dumps from March through May. I remember driving back from Texas in my sandals. Hit a horrible Colorado blizzard that left hundreds stranded off the side of the road. Would have been ugly without good ground clearance, tires, posi-track, and experience with snow. Plus the boots in the back of the truck....the last mile was impassable.

I wonder how many people do not carry emergency clothing in their vehicle.

Have we gotten much better at weather predictions over the past couple decades?

We're in East Stroudsburg, PA (northeastern PA in the heart of the heaviest accum totals)... Presently we're in white out conditions.

Our plant (manufacturing 24x5 plant) is closed for the 2nd time ever in 17 years working with them.

My wife and I just came in from our first plowing, we had about 8-10 inches so far... that was 2 hours ago... we have easily another 4 inches since then. Hard to say as its blowing and drifting now.

6", heavy snow and howling in Glen Head, NY (on LI Sound). 30 degrees now. A data buoy in Central Long Island Sound is now showing max wave heights of over 11 feet. South shore and further east is getting mix rain/snow.
