This is my first boat, but so far has provided quite good sailing short-distance cruising experiences. It is quite roomy for a 28 footer, with 6'1" headroom. The 15hp Yanmar is excellent when you need to push, and the mid-hatch provides a lot more ventilation. She is fairly stiff. Her draught is quite low - 4 feet, 4 inches. Her rudder is more straight than many Tanzers, so it doesn't haul you around the cockpit in a blow. Her construction is pretty heavy. She moves well off the wind, especially with the spinnaker set well.

The drawbacks are some fit and finish, a bit under-sailed in light air conditions (that's where the diesel really comes in handy!), not a boat to point overly high into the wind, and the rub-rail starts to loosen, and is not an easy job to push back in. My understanding is the rub-rails were heated in the factory, then pushed on with major mechanical help. I have been strongly warned to not try to repair them myself!

All in all, this is an excellent first boat, quite forgiving, and makes moving up more challenging due to its roominess and solid build.
