Very stable design. Roomy and fast for a heavy cruiser.
Schooner bow and transverse transom yield maximum bouancy to bow and stern and give maximum waterline length. Wide beam and deep keel makes for a good stiff cruising vessel.

Combination of high freeboard (flush deck), and center cockpit makes for very dry sailing even heading to weather.

Cut-away keel makes it more maneuverable in close quarters and gives easy access to propeller and shaft without need to remove rudder.

My interior was finished professionally. Some were finished by purchaser so quality and floorplan vary dramatically.
Typically has 6'5" headroom.

Overall satisfaction: very pleased.

I would like to contact other Yorktown 39 owners to exchange information.

Also, check-out Yorktown Owners Page:

This page is run by Mark Brown who used to be the Yard foreman at Yorktown Yachts. Fabulous resource!

Own a 1977 Yorktown 39 aft cockpit, sailing from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm looking for technical data, (blue prints?) in order to complete european certification and documentation.
