Description: I purchased my neglected MacGregor VentureCat 15 out of a farm field. It had never been sailed by its "then-owner", the tramp was in tatters, the trailer rusty, the halyard turned to dust. However, the sails were in good shape and for $250, I was it's new owner.
After a new tramp for $250, a new halyard for $45, and some glass work on a cracked hull, I was in business.
I like the VCat because it comes with a large furling jib, and takes advantage of the lightest breeze. I like the simplicity of it - the halyard ties to the top grommet of the sail, and a pin secures the foot. No traveller on the main sheet. The jib sheets sometimes get in the way when tacking and jibing - they come right across the trampoline.
Great for single handing - including stepping the mast.
