I am sorry to hear about your wife, that is a serious drag.
Stagg has a complete operational saildrive coming out of (or potentially already out of) his Midships 25. Near term, I would give some serious thought to just getting the whole system and plunking it directly in since that would get you fully operational in a days work. From there, I generally find that it is a great deal more pleasant to work on a boat that does something other than loom down on you from it's trailer in the boatyard. At least when you get mad working on things with the boat in the water you can go swimming.
Also just so happens that he is currently working with some riggers down there to get new stays made for his boat so you could quite likely just get him to double up everything since he is already pulling all of his rigging to get the new stuff made up.
