Looking at a 1980 Watkins 23

Looking for advice on what to look for, any known weaknesses, problem areas, etc...

Originally began discussion with seller last week, but when he pulled it out of the marina onto the trailer Thursday and began taking an inventory, he discovered someone had stolen the boom.

Is this a dealbreaker, if the boat is otherwise in good shape? Tandem-axle trailer, two outboards, inflatable dingy with motor, 4 sails (2 mains, 1 jib, one spinnaker) are included.
Interior woodwork recently refinished/varnished, only external wood needs taking care of. Has a mainsail roller furler, which I guess may complicate finding a boom, then figuring out what's needed on the boom for the furler to properly work. Or I can just set it back to factory stock on the mainsail.

Agreed upon price pending in-person check is $1400, considering the missing boom.

Anyone in South Florida have one of these that can assist me with looking at their boom, taking pictures, taking dimensions, etc... so I could source a replacement boom ?

Tried posting a message to the Yahoo Watkins Owners group, but my posts don't even show up, and the admin hasn't answered queries yet.

Thanks, and cheers!
