I've never seen a Velvetdrive without a cooler usually bolted on with the same bolts for the bell housing adapter plate .It gets it's oil from the gerotor pump on the front input shaft. Gear is prone to overheat if driven by tailstock(under sail) or the pump fails. Then the plates whorp and you're stuck in gear,maybe both F and R at the same time which prevents the starter from working until things cool down. .
