I would thumbnail 11.9 volts at 30% state of charge. Gels can take this better than any other, but it still hurts a bit.

If they're seven years old, you're due for replacement very soon anyway. If they're getting you through the day, just work on understanding the charging systems and prepare for a fresh new bank.

You want to read up on 3 stage charging profiles (bulk, absorb and float) and it's mandatory to have a shunt that can read amps going into your battery. Most basic monitors just measure what's being used or being generated by charge sources. However, as I said, what's actually going into your battery is usually very different.
