Re: Northeast Bomb Cyclone

This one came on quicker than any of the weather services showed and the winds were from around 30 degrees further East. Luckily, yesterday morning, we decided that the forrcast wind direction would make Provincetown untenable and made a dash for Newport - around 3pm the wind and seas kicked up and we arrived amid 40kt gusts. Managed to get her docked (one of the wharfs had a berth in a tight space) and certainly better than anchoring out in the harbor. At least the rain last night dealt with getting the salt off nearly every surface!

Looking at P’town weather data, it seems we dodged a bullet as they experienced 90 mph gusts while all we got was 45 mph. Still, it made for an exciting last couple of hours running down Buzzards Bay.
