they were nesting my boom too while on the mooring, it was so bad that last winter we took the boom apart and got about 2 lbs of twigs and stuff out. Even the the outhaul wouldn't work! Pretty easy it was actually.. drilling out pop rivets pulling the ends off. Learned how there is a block in the boom to increase the pull on the outhaul. 3/16ths pop rivets put it all back like it was never apart.
