A Different Perspective on Boating

We all love to boat and seem to get a lot of relaxation out of it, but others might have a different perspective.

I asked a Vietnamese friend if he would like to go sailing with me. He said he had a bad experience on a boat and would never set foot on one again. He explained when he was a boy, he escaped by boat from vietnam (he was a boat person)

Boat people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After a long period on the boat they ran aground ( I believe in the Philippines). They were stranded on a reef far out in the sea, no land in sight. The boat was holed and full of water. There were over a hundred people on this boat and a large number died due to lack of food and water. Finally they were rescued by some American navy personnel. This man imigrated to the US.
