Hmmmm, is this a way to co-opt our sometimes cacophonous good buddy Mark?

Congrats Mark! Might I suggest Patreon instead of Paypal, it's too easy to cancel payment on Paypal..

So with a little cash transfer I can remove ALL restraint and start posting what I really think, and do it without having to think to myself "maybe that's a little too harsh"?

Post the PayPal link, I might be in.

Whatever restraint Mark shows in the future will entirely be of his own doing. What attracted us to the idea of him being a mod was his personality and the degree to which he doesn't piss off other members. The "degree" being that no one has threatened to leave the forum because of him.

Re: Another New Moderator

Not sure what role Mark will play as a mod.... but he's done fabulous contributions to this site. Great sense of humor, lots of experience at sea... positive and no nonsense and definitely one of the points of interest on the boards.

I too am delighted that Mark was willing to become a moderator. I think that the member comments above capture many of the reasons that he is a good candidate. I personally value Mark's experience, pragmatic approach to life, sailing and prose, and his broad world view.

Welcome aboard Mark,

Jeff
