It's for legal reasons. Everything posted on here is part of the legal historical record. If anyone makes any libelous, seditious or criminal statements, or our president posts any statements that launch us into war, the posts will be subpoenaed into the court record.

I assume this was meant as a post. If anything, it would be “if our Prime Minister…” This is a Canadian forum after all .

As I said, there are no legal requirements to make this change. Nor can I see any in connection to the Terms of Use. It’s a policy change, and I would still like to hear an answer as to why. Call me curious, or even somewhat suspicious now that no answer has been given.

Yes, it was meant in jest. I've been on here for and a half years and I did not know this was a Canadian site. I guess that explains why there are so many of ya on here.

I understand a Toronto Newspaper is the largest controlling investor in Vertical Scope, who owns SN. Vertical Scope lists their HQ in Toronto, but also have offices in Detroit, San Fransisco and Grand Cayman.

Not quite buckeroo.

Makes no difference now. New policy forever prevents it from happening again. Good move

Re: Slight Rule Change! Editing posts limited to 7 Days. Trial

Has the time to correct a typo and not get an "edited by" addendum also changed? I just noticed a typo seconds after a post and reopened it to change one word and got the addendum.

Not sure I really care, but that seems excessive and creates unnecessary suspicion, IMO. It may even dumb down the significance of having he addendum, if it appears all the time.

How's the trial going? Is it really a trial or was that just a soft petal way of saying it's happening. Years back, I recall the Admin surveyed the users on something, I can't recall exactly what it was. The survey was overwhelmingly clear on the user's answer. The Admins did what they wanted in opposition anyway. I hate that kind of dishonesty. I don't think we really have any say in the matter.

Re: Slight Rule Change! Editing posts limited to 7 Days. Trial

I certainly edit a lot and only for syntax, typos and spelling errors. Preventing users from making these sorts of edits indefinitely serves no purpose. I discover my mistakes usually only when my flawed post is quote and I read a response to it... only to discover my language abuse. Then I go in to the original post and edit to correct the mistake. I do not add sentences, phrases or new ideas. If I want to do that I write a new post/reply.

Re: Slight Rule Change! Editing posts limited to 7 Days. Trial

Just for the record, I still haven’t seen an explanation as to why this change is being made. All we’ve heard is it is “closing a loophole." But what loophole? And what problem is this solving? All this remains a mystery.

Like I said, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Nor do I think it’s unreasonable. But the lack of a clear answer to what seems to me to be an innocuous question makes me suspicious, and causes me to wonder if there is more going on.
