Universal M30 (5424) diesel engine parts

Trying to piece together my parts inventory for our M30. I need an alternator bracket and arm, but no joy in locating parts. I tried Kubota engine parts too, but can't find the arm with the offset. I've attached a pic of our engine, but not thrilled that the PO painted over most of it. I have the complete water pump and have ordered all new lines, plumbing etc. Also need an air filter canister. Any inputs would be appreciated. I'll include more pics of this project soon. Might even consider a core exchange for a rebuild. If anyone knows any engine/parts sources, we'd appreciate it. Thanks to all.

Non-marine conversion parts can be had at a Kubota dealer at price much lower than through a marine source. You will need the Kubota engine number which should be on the dipstick, For most parts, I use marinedieseldirect.com and marinedieselparts.com.

Thank you for the reply! Here's what I know...The M30 is similar to the Y-850 Kubota based on the D-1101 block . I'm not sure if the V-850 is also compatible for parts, but most have those in stock. (v850) I contacted my local Kubota dealer and they gave me the contact for Kubota engine distributors. I'll check the dipstick as I wasn't aware the engine # was there. Thanks again.

I'd suggest at least getting a quote from your genuine Westerbeke distributor. Sometimes their prices are very high, but sometimes they are reasonable.

I've bought from both Westerbeke (Hansen Marine or Superior Diesel) and Kubota (Engine Distributors in NJ). Each has its own plusses and minuses. Sometimes delivery time is more important than price.

As you may have noticed, Kubota has at least two distribution networks: Engine dealers and tractor dealers. Sometimes the latter can have great deals, but they can be tough to deal with because they usually insist on the serial number of your tractor. They're not being difficult, it's just that all their reference manuals go by tractor number, so they don't really know where to start if you don't have a tractor.

Re: Universal M30 (5424) diesel engine parts

The alternator bracket and arm are part of the "marinization" of a Kubota block performed by Universal/Westerbeake. Other parts of the process include the raw water pump and the heat exchanger. These parts will NOT be available from tractor supply sources.

I have all of the parts lists for the M25 and M25-XP, but not the M30... Perhaps an old M25 bracket may fit?

Re: Universal M30 (5424) diesel engine parts

Thanks for the replies. Coming from a simple Yanmar 1GM, I'm surprised at how much more expensive the M30 parts are for some items. The alternator I have is not compatible with the M30, nor is the arm. The bracket looks completely different than the schematic for the M30. Thankfully, we have the heat exchanger (fingers crossed it works) these go for hundreds or how about a major parts kit for the M30 for just $1900! A similar Yanmar 3GM only costs $600.

Regarding the heat exchanger....
At some point in time, it was recommended to use a larger 3 inch

If you know where to look you can get the 3" heat exchanger for <400
