Frisco Flyer

I have (am owned) by a '62 Cheoy Lee 'Frisco Flyer' in Maine. Give a shout if you have one of these, or know of one?

In the '60's and '70's there were "tons" of them in the San Francisco Bay Area. Handsome little boats that sailed very well. We always admired them (but wouldn't have wanted to maintain all that brightwork!) I'm sure quite a few remain...

"It is not so much for its beauty that the sea makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from the waves, that so wonderfully renews a weary spirit."

Re: Frisco Flyer

Saw an article on one that was restored somewhere on the West Coast. Believe the article was in Good Old Boat though it could have been Latitude 38. Might see if you could get a reprint.

Re: Frisco Flyer

There's still a few around. They were built with teak planking over ipol frames, but the plywood used started to delam after a decade or so. I'd like to find some current owners, past owners, and hear their stories

Re: Frisco Flyer

Still a few of them in the (real) Bay Area. I've had several as customers over the years. You might consider sending Latitude 38 a letter to be printed, might generate some response.
