Re: 4th of July Weekend?

We may take a short sail on Sunday, but otherwise we're sticking around Rock Hall to enjoy the festivities, hang on boats with friends, eat, drink, etc., watch the fireworks from our cockpit while we eat, drink, etc.

I need to find a turtle on PEDs for the turtle race.

Re: 4th of July Weekend?

We were planning on Rock Hall but dog sitter problems means we'll probably do some day sails around Ft. McHenry and watch the fireworks from the dock.

Friday is our anniversary and we have to go where we met. The fourth will probably be hunkered down at home.

Re: 4th of July Weekend?

Gotta love those NOAA wind predictions. Today, the winds were predicted from the NW at 5 with flat seas. The wind in the bay's upper reaches ranged from 15 to 25 from the NW all day long, and the seas were anything but flat. Good sailing for me, though.

Gary: One of my most memorable trips along the Southeast coast was with an old friend on his OI 33 back in 76. He was changing jobs and that necessitated moving his boat from Brunswick GA. to Charleston SC.. On a beautiful, blustery day in February we left Brunswick on the ebb tide, the weather was clear, cold and windy. The wind was steady at 25 to 35 from the west with gusts to 45. A glorious reach for the next 30 hours ensued, the old girl handling the seas and winds with a steady and stately will. The boats hull and deck were like iron, they were so stiff and strong. The full keel made steering effortless and we took turns sheltering behind the dodger(the first dodger I'd ever had the pleasure of using) to stay warm. Coffee, hot chocolate and soup were the order of the day and kept us hearty and hale. I'll never forget that trip, that boat, that friend, those wonderful days on a boat with wings.
