Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Yet another great sail yesterday... and heading out soon as the winds are 10+

I'm still having a difficult time believing this is August

Did a race off of Middle River last night. Absolutely gorgeous evening.

I'm thinking that I really want to sail to Chestertown at least once, and the predicted conditions seem an ideal time. I'm looking at NE and E winds, so there will probably be some motoring involved, especially if it's NE.

Last one there's a rotten egg! I'm thinking of taking the day off tomorrow and heading that direction.

I'll be the rotten egg. I'll be sailing but won't head that way until Sunday.

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

I wanted to go out today and overnight somewhere, but too damned busy getting ready to start my new job. Can't sail Saturday or Sunday, so we're hoping to head out for a daysail Friday. So you might see us out there heading out of Rock Hall.

Sounds like the boat will be up for sale soon.

Absolutely no plans for that. The boat is my only source of temporary sanity. Even a few hours aboard in the slip does wonders to adjust my attitude. My career is close enough to the finish line that I'll hold onto the boat to have her ready for when I have lots more time.

I hope so. Like you, my boat is my only outlet.

I have several other outlets too (two little trailer boats, musical groups, School Board), but none as fulfilling (or costly, which is why I need to keep working) as the big boat.

I had an unpleasant surprise when I arrived here at the marina last night. I had a captain gig last week and had packed all my critical gear into a travel bag to take on OPB. I accidentally left the bag home, 2 hours away. We could try to sail even without that gear, but I'm having fun tinkering on the todo list while my wife sleeps more restfully than she ever does at home. So even a few hours in the slip is having the desired effect on my psyche.
