Down at Haleakula buttoned up as a T storm is piling through. Looks like a good sail tomorrow. Will head for the Wye somewhere..

Dividing Creek is very crowded... glad we got here early! People seem offended I'm naked?

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Great sail today. Perfect wind again. We landed in Hunting Creek off the Miles River past St Micheals. Only two other sailboats here with us.

Dinner tonight was franchised Red Grouper with a coconut white wine sauce. Grilled Asaparagus, and red rice and beans. Perfect temperTure out. If it wasn't so cloudy we'd seen so many stars as no light back here.

Looking for a nice 4 day trip for Memorial Day weekend. If the winds are right probably a Solomon's / Choptank weekend. In three weeks or so we have 10 days. Haven't fully decided where to go.

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

A lovely afternoon with son. After a little motor south of Rock Hall we unfurled jib and sailed the boat for the first time. Magic ensued.

I'm always up for a sail, and would love to have you onboard. I'm no longer working, therefore, most any day that I don't have a doctor's appointment, I can go. Just let me know the days you want to go.

Beautiful afternoon with friends and family. 8-10 with a few periods of 12-14. Comfortable even while having a picnic lunch.

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Good peaceful sailing day on the Bay. Wind most eastern which meNt broad reaches down Easter Bay and back to Whitehall Creek. Smooth sailing and a feeling of really getting away. Still not many sailboats out there.

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Wish I could have been out there today, but my sister and brother in law came over for a cookout. I grilled some cheddar and bacon flavored Johnsonville Grillers and some of their new mild sweet Italian sausage, made some macaroni and shrimp salad, garden salad and washed it down with some great wines. Seemed a bit on the chilly side here, with temperatures hovering in the low 60s most of the day. The winds, however, looked great for sailing.

All the best,

Gary

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Storms rolling in this past Friday evening as we headed to the Wye...

Sundays sail around Kent Island, down Eastern Bay then North before entering the Chester back to CHM. Winds were gusty Sunday morning but than steadied to about 5-10 apparent... on mostly a beam reach North.

We ate good, Coconut Chicken Curry, Tuna Tacos, Korean Beef Bulgogi, and Paella Sunday... and probably too much Vino

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

We left HHN Friday early and had a frisky sail across the bay to St. Michaels. There were four boats anchored off of St. Michaels. We took the water taxi in and had a great meal at Awful Arthurs with Oysters, steamed clams and tuna. We had been watching the weather radar and headed back to the boat by 8PM. Quite the light show before the rain came and we saw gusts over 30kts. The Rocna was well stuck.

Saturday we popped over to Wye River East and settled into Shaw Bay early for our first visit. We were the only boat for a couple of hours, but we had a half dozen boats by dusk. We had been having a bit of vibration under power since our refit and I dove the prop to make certain it was clean. Clean, zinc intact and no play on the shaft as far as I could tell. We are doing a short haul on Wednesday to have the shop that did our refit, Zimmerman Marine, have a look and try to diagnose the vibration. They did engine mounts and alignment, so I was expecting smoother rather than more vibration afterwards.

Sweet Christine's birthday was Saturday, so I made a Red lentil curry with coconut milk and zucchini. She enjoyed her bottle of Tattinger champagne while I cooked dinner.

We had a lazy Sunday and a lazy sail downwind to HHN. It was a nice quiet long weekend.

For Memorial Day weekend we are going to entertain our first guests on Echoes. My daughters are looking forward to some sailing and play time.

Cheers, RickG
