I'm still hopeful to launch this year, although visiting one day a week really slows things down. I still need to get some damage fixed from when hurricane Matthew came through.

Plenty of work ahead of me. So maybe sometime in September would work. Hopefully before the marina fills up with winter storage.
No battle plan survives contact with the enemy. Keep plugging away at it.

Passing the Potomac, intended to go through the night but ultimately decided to duck into Solomon's Island for a break. Figures NOAA said 5-10 S... 20+ deadon was pounding... just not fun.

Yeah, my wife and I had the opposite experience on a delivery home from the Gov Cup one year. It once we turned north it was brutal. We had to tack to lessen the pounding even though we were motoring. A quick calculation of our VMG made the decisions to duck into Solomon's an easy decision.

Have a safe trip.

On the subject of Gov Cup I'm one or two short of crew if anyone is interested.

I got my butt kicked too heading down the Choptank to Tilghmans for the seafood festival. Wind against the tide 20+ on the nose, double reefed in a 25 footer without a dodger. Very wet ride but nothing broke and fun was had by all.

Are you racing in the Cruising Class?

Undecided still. This looks to be the year I move to PHRF C. I'm tired of the annual rules change in the cruising class. The way they split the fleet this year seems destined to make sure there are no boats.

Just drove to the boat, not a breath of air blowing, tempeature 90 degees, humidity 100 percent, got a cold bottle of water out of the fridge and drove home.

Re: 2017 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Been an adventure so far... tonight we took a slip at the historic Yorktown Municipal Marina at a $1.50/ft. Plus 10% Boat US discount. Not a lot of sailing, yet! Winds were South for the past three days. Tomorrow likely Norfolk then on to Cape Charles or somewhere... who knows

Gary,

You checked on the boat and sampled fridge contents. Sounds like a good day to me.
