For the first time in much of my life, I am without a boat. I sold the Morgan 33 Out Island to a relatively young couple, they loved everything they saw when they inspected the boat, they had a very limited budget, but I, reluctantly, accepted their offer.

My health condition has worsened significantly, I can no longer breathe without supplemental oxygen and even with the O2, it's a real struggle. I will be 79 next month, and, unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that there are things I just can no longer do, including sail single handed, which was the case most of the time for the past decade. Most of my close friends have long since passed away, my wife has some serious health issues and could not safely access the boat, so my sailing days are over.

The sailnet has been a wealth of information for me over the years I have been here, but not I rarely turn on the PC other than to write a few checks and pay bills.

Thanks everyone for being here for me,

God bless Gary,

You are one of the most memorable people I met in person because of SN.
Not a day goes by when I am out I don’t wonder how you are doing.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us here.
I know I am better for it.

Stay in touch once in a while

Hi Gary,
Thanks for coming on and letting us know how things are, as I have been wondering. Had visions of you in Marathon having a grand old time.
I wish you well and have your music to keep you in my thoughts.
Say hi once in a while. I will miss you here.

Re: Boatless

So glad to hear you’re still with us Gary, boatless or not. I’ve always enjoyed your wit and your wisdom on so many topics here. I do hope you’re still planning to keep writing here.

I would have dearly liked to take you up on your kind offer of a boat visit. But we’re still lingering up north. I have no idea if/when we’ll head south; the cruising is just too nice here. But if we do, the offer of a sail on my little boat is now there.

Take care of yourself and your wife. And keep writing here (when you can).

All the best with your and your wife's struggles, Gary. I had asked about you in a thread here, some number of months back. You seemed to disappear suddenly. I hope you'll have the strength to drop in from time to time. Be well.

Re: Boatless

Hate hearing of great sailors having to give it up.

You cannot say you haven't sailed as you wanted. Because of this, you are an inspiration. If I can be so lucky to sail until I am 79, I will consider it a great honor indeed. I suspect a day sail here or there might still be in your future, lord knows all of us here would be honored to have you if you felt up to it.

Please stay here, keep with us, and relive with us everything you have learned.
