May and June Wind?

This is a fairly naive question, but I'm starting to do some planning for the coming year - the calendar fills up quickly, so it's important to reserve time for things.

My wife and I are planning to join a club this spring (well, in January), where we'll get a certain number of sailing days in the coming year. I'm wondering what May and early June are like on the bay, wind-wise- I'm guessing this is fairly prime sailing time? We were there at the end of July and start of August last year, and while it wasn't completely dead, it wasn't fantastic.

I'd love to get some feedback! When does the season really start?

Re: May and June Wind?

Early May is typically the best sailing month on the Chesapeake. The air is warm enough and the water cool enough to be comfortable. There are usually good winds. Popular ports and anchorages are pretty empty. It can be rainy, but most years 'not so much'. June is less predictable, you can have summer pattern winds and temperatures, but early June can be very nice.

Early to mid June and Sept 15- October 15 are the best times IMHO
