Columbia 28 Outboard Motor Installation

Hi All! Long time looker first time poster.

Decided to add a new 9.9 Suzuki long shaft with a Garelick bracket as a kicker motor while removing my Palmer for a rebuild.

Hired a couple of fellows of good reputation who provided measurements. Decided to place motor port side of midships. Long story short, sixteen new holes and two repositionings and a hell of a lot deflection (with a 12 "x 12 " 3/ 4" piece of marine plywood backer) still not in the water to proper level.

All hands paid and dismissed. Now on the hard, ordered and received a longer Garelick bracket and still not sure way forward.

Finally my question: If I had asked what advice or sources or experience what would you share?

Re: Columbia 28 Outboard Motor Installation

Hey I've seen a few people with motors mounted straight into the well behind the tiller. That might be an option, I have the same problem and have to get an extra long shaft motor such as the Tohatsu Sail Pro MFS6.
