That is super helpful!
I took her out sailing for the first time yesterday and discovered that since I moved the motor into the well 1) the motor performed much better than it did before. 2) it was a thousand times easier to use. 3) the tiller handle hits the top of the motor where the gas tank cap is.

So the solution seems to be either build a box over the motor and/or get a different tiller handle.

The tiller pivots up and down, and sits on a machined rest. Perhaps you could just put something on that machined part so the tiller doesn't go all the way down, and misses the cap?
