Almost there........

Got my rudder on today. Just a few more projects left and I will be off the hard and out learning to sail.

Thank you. I bought the boat in July. It didn't have a rudder and both the gudgeons were broken off. I searched and searched for one with no luck ( unless I wanted to pay more for the rudder than I did the boat) Finally I got in touch with a guy who was selling his Columbia t26 to see if he could get me all the measurements I would need to make one and he had an extra one and we'll you see where it is hanging now.

So far I have had the boat moved to the work yard and pressure washed the whole thing and started sanding it down. Hopefully we have a nice weekend and I will get the topside paint on. I'm thinking about pulling the through hulls and resealing them just to be safe, but then I might be opening up myself for unnecessary work since everything looks ok.

Re: Almost there........

Any chance that rudder is deeper than the keel? If yes, you might want to upside your rudder attachment hardware by quite a bit, or shorten the rudder...

Beautiful day today. Got some topside paint put on. I will try to hit it up with some 220 grit and put the second coat on next weekend.

I will have to double check the rudder. It is an original rudder and the gudgeons are in the original spot on the the boat. When I was underneath it sanding it down it looked as if they were the same distance down from the water line.

That's beautiful. Congratulations. That Rudder looks awfully long. Are you concerned about it being the first thing to ground in the shallows? I'm envious that you are in a place and position to put your boat in the water.

Looks awesome. She's come a long way from the first picture that you posted. Enjoy your sailing.
