Re: Panama Canal help offered

You probably won't have any prospects here, but when you get to Panama, go to Shelter Bay Marina and stick a posting up offering your services. Also post at the Balboa Yacht Club on the Pacific side.

It's a bit late in the season for the typical canal crossing, but there are always people going through, and most of them begin at the above two choke points.

Re: Panama Canal help offered

Forgot that marina opened - good call, but it is more difficult to get to by land.

Maybe there are websites to post on?

Re: Panama Canal help offered

On my bucket list. Not quite ready. Folks get paid to help with the passage and paperwork. Will you be requesting a fee?

I've heard of cruisers laying up at Shelter Bay and helping neighbors do the transit, then taking a cab/bus back to their own boat in the marina, until they're ready to go.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Thank you all for your input. Very helpful for sure. I’ll checkout the pacific side marinas as I am in the area.

Just to be clear, I am not looking for compensation, I would like to help just for the fun of it.
Cheers!

Re: Panama Canal help offered

Just wondering is you'll be in the area again around February 2020. We're starting to make our plans from Ventura, CA to Kemah, TX and will need assistance through the canal.
